6-Hour Sarasota Standoff Ends With Man Found Dead
Sarasota County deputies say the man was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Sarasota, FL — An attempt to serve outstanding arrest warrants to a Sarasota man Tuesday morning turned into a standoff that lasted more than six hours.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the standoff ended around 6 p.m. when SWAT team members entered the home in the 4900 block of Silk Oak Drive and found the man dead.
The incident began Tuesday around 11:32 a.m. when deputies tried to serve arrest warrants to a man who was believed to be inside the Silk Oak Drive home. After deputies made contact at the home, a woman exited and told them the person they were looking for was inside, armed with a firearm.

The man told the woman to relay he was “not going back to jail,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.
Deputies say the man refused to leave the home and was uncooperative.
