Thanksgiving 2022 In Sarasota: What’s Open, Closed

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — With Sarasota County residents celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services over the holiday weekend.

City of Sarasota government offices: All administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

City of Sarasota Solid Waste Department: There will be no garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup on Thursday.

Collection will be delayed by one day. Thursday's collection will take place Friday and Friday's collection will take place Saturday.

There will also be no commercial garbage collection Thursday. Solid Waste staff will coordinate with commercial customers to adjust their individual collections.

Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Lido Pool: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Payne Park Tennis Center: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall: The box office will be closed Thursday. It reopens Friday at 10 a.m.

Sarasota County Area Transit: Regular SCAT bus and SCAT Plus services won’t operate Thursday. These services will resume Friday.

The Siesta Key Breeze and OnDemand services will operate on a modified schedule from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The SCAT administration office and downtown transfer station customer service window will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Public Libraries and Historical Resources: All library branch locations will be closed Thursday and Friday, reopening Saturday. Historical Resources are also closed Thursday and Friday and reopen Monday.

Sarasota County Recreation Centers: All recreation centers will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Public Schools: Schools are closed through Friday.

Sarasota County government offices: All government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Solid Waste Collections: There will be no garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup on Thursday. Thursday’s pick-up will take place on Friday, and Friday’s pick-up will take place on Saturday.

County Chemical Collection Centers: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Central County Landfill: Closed Thursday. The landfill will stay open until 5 p.m. Saturday, though the construction and demolition area will close at 2 p.m.

Citizen Convenience Center: Closed Thursday. Will reopen Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though the construction and demolition area will close at 2 p.m.

Re-Uz-It Shop: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Hurricane Ian Debris Collection Drop-Off Sites: Closed through Sunday and will reopen Monday.

Disaster Resource Center at Shannon Staub Public Library: Closed through Sunday and will reopen Monday.
