The Name is French, the Ownership British, the Food Too Good to Miss

The name may be French but the menu is all American with a decidedly British influence. Casually charming, friendly and relaxed, The Cafe Continental should not be overlooked.

Tucked into a corner of a small strip mall in the heart of Siesta Key Village, it would be easy to overlook the . If you were to do so, it would be unfortunate.

Serving breakfast and lunch daily from 7am - 2pm and dinner “in-season” on Friday and Saturday evenings, Café Continental sets itself apart. With a menu offering all the American stand-by’s, truly English choices, out of this world scones, specialty coffees and English teas served in real English teapots, Café Continental subtly makes it clear their menu is special … and it is. For our meals we had the following:

  • Huevos Rancheros:  Tortillas with refried beans, 2 eggs any style, pepper jack cheese, sliced tomatoes, with feta, Chef’s green salsa and sour cream.  $8.99 only served Fri, Sat and Sun.
An authentic taste and presentation…home-made green salsa was delicious.
  • Bubble and Squeak:  Two eggs, bubble and squeak, toast or English muffin $7.70
Eggs perfectly prepared, “bubble and squeak” reminds me of a combination pancake, texture of grits with vegetables...I loved it!
  • Across the Pond - Full English Breakfast:  Two eggs, ½ grilled tomato, banger, mushrooms, bacon, served with toast or English muffin $9.99
A hearty breakfast, full of flavor…reminiscent of an English B&B breakfast
  • English Fish and Chips:  Choice of cod or haddock or basa in beer batter served with steak fries, green peas and tartar sauce. $12.99
Big thick piece of sweet cod fish, tasty batter, fresh peas, very filling, authentically English, the only thing missing was the newspaper wrapper.
  • House Salad:  Hearts of romaine and tomatoes with green peppers, cucumber and onions.  All salads served with hot French bread and home made dressings $6.30, with grilled chicken breast add $3.50
Fresh, crispy vegetables with a good size portion of grilled chicken.
  • Mediterranean Tuna Melt Panini:  Tuna, lemon mayo, celery, arugula and provolone cheese.  Served with home made potato chips and a pickle. $8.99
Surprisingly large portion; crispy on the outside and warm gooey on the inside…just the right balance
  • Choice of scone with powdered sugar and whipped cream:  $2.75 We chose a mixed berry scone, it arrived hot out of the oven.
    Sinfully good.

Café Continental offers a selection of coffee, teas and soft drinks as well as a limited selection of imported beers and wine to accompany your meal.  We found the wait staff to be very pleasant, attentive and accommodating.
