Sarasota DOH Hits Coronavirus Vaccine Capacity Within An Hour

The Department of Health in Sarasota reached capacity for COVID-19 vaccination appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday in less than an hour.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — The Department of Health in Sarasota County began offering coronavirus vaccination appointments to seniors 65 and older on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Appointments for the free vaccination, scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, reached capacity in less than an hour. The vaccines will be administered by appointment only at the William L. Little Health and Human Services building at 2200 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota.

The DOH in Sarasota County has yet to announce future dates and times for additional vaccination appointments.

Sarasota County residence is not required, but snowbirds must remain in Sarasota County for their second dose, according to the DOH website. The second dose will be given 28 days after the first appointment.

Those being vaccinated must download and complete the Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccine Screening and Consent Form ahead of their appointment. To be vaccinated, those registered must bring their consent form, registration ticket and a valid ID to their appointment.
