Threat Against Sarasota-Area High School Investigated: Police
North Port High School was evacuated Monday after online threats were made against multiple FL schools, police said.
NORTH PORT, FL — North Port High School was evacuated Monday after multiple online threats were made to schools across FL “suggesting an intent to harm students on campuses,” the North Port Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Students were directed outside the buildings “out of an abundance of caution,” the agency said.
They were eventually escorted back inside after the school was given the all-clear.

“Though the alleged threat was made electronically and is not believed to be credible, it is currently under investigation by the Sarasota County Schools Police Department and local law enforcement,” Sarasota County Schools posted to X, formerly Twitter. “During the investigation, we will have an enhanced security presence on campus.”
Student contacts were called about threats.

Information about the threat to NPHS was forwarded to the FBI, North Port police said.
“We do not take these types of threats lightly and will continue to respond swiftly. We will do whatever it takes to protect our kids and hold those responsible accountable,” police said.
