Toddler Drowns in Pool

The homeowner found the boy floating in the water.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning of a 2-year-old boy in the Warm Mineral Springs area.

According to the sheriff’s office, a resident in the 200 block of Orduna Drive went outside Tuesday around 10:10 a.m. and found the boy in the swimming pool. The resident, deputies said, called 911 and began CPR. The child, however, was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived.

The child did not live at the home and was not known to the person who found him, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies launched a search to find the boy’s mother and did locate her a few homes away. The father was notified at work of the death.
