
Motorists who travel through Sarasota County might want to take note. The Florida Highway Patrol has announced a DUI Wolfpack Detail for this Friday night.
The special detail will hit the road at 11 p.m. May 15 and continue through 5 a.m. Saturday.
āFHP sets up such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,ā the highway patrol said in an email to media. āTroopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from the roadways in Sarasota County.ā

Drivers are considered impaired under Florida law when they have a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher. Drivers under the age of 21 are considered impaired if they have a BAC of .02 or higher.
Motorists who encounter impaired drivers are encouraged to contact the patrol by dialing *347 from their cellphones.
