Two Venice Children Critically Injured In River Road Crash: FHP

An SUV and a pick-up truck collided at the intersection of River Road and Winchester Boulevard in Venice Sunday afternoon, FHP said.

VENICE, FL — Two children were critically injured in an accident at the intersection of River Road and Winchester Boulevard in Venice Sunday around 4:43 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

An SUV traveling south on River Road turned left onto Winchester Boulevard directly into the path of a pick-up truck heading north on River Road. The front of the pick-up truck hit the SUV’s right side, the FHP said.

The 40-year-old man driving the SUV and his 54-year-old female passenger were seriously injured. The two children in the SUV with them — a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy — were critically injured.

The 54-year-old woman driving the pick-up truck and her 56-year-old male passenger had minor injuries, FHP said.
