Unlicensed Teen Drives Through Sarasota Restaurant, 2 Injured: FHP
Kacey's Seafood on Fruitville Road in Sarasota is temporarily closed after an unlicensed 16-year-old girl drove through the building Friday.
SARASOTA, FL — An unlicensed 16-year-old girl drove through the front window of a Sarasota restaurant, injuring two diners, Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The girl lost control of her car, driving into Kacey’s Seafood & More restaurant at 4904 Fruitville Road, around 3:30 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Two diners seated at an outdoor table — a 65-year-old woman and 64-year-old man from Minnesota — were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The teen was arrested for driving without a license resulting in serious injuries and booked into the Sarasota County Jail, FHP said. The crash remains under investigation.
Kacey’s Seafood, which was previously the Lazy Lobster before rebranding in May, is temporarily closed following the crash.

“Our employees are all ok, but two customers were seriously injured. We ask for your prayers for them,” the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post. “We can clean up and rebuild but our wonderful guests are precious and irreplaceable.”
The original Kacey’s Seafood location at 7602 Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota is still open.
