USA Freedom Kids’ Manager Threatens Donald Trump Lawsuit

The father of the youngest Freedom Kid says the Trump campaign failed to pay for performances or keep promises.

MARCO ISLAND, FL — The father of one of the pint-sized performers catapulted to viral fame following a January appearance at a Donald Trump rally in Pensacola has announced plans to sue the Republican nominee’s campaign. Citing broken promises and a failure to pay for the USA Freedom Kids’ performances, Jeff Popick has publicly announced his intentions to seek compensation for the girls’ appearances.

The Marco Island-based USA Freedom Kids is a performance group whose songs “help to inspire and celebrate freedom,” according to the troupe’s website. The red-white-and-blue-clad singers, all preteen girls, became a national hit after Trump’s Pensacola rally.

With more than 16,000 followers on Twitter, a healthy Facebook fan base and thousands of views on its YouTube videos, the troupe has gained quite a following since its January performance. While viral fame is well and good, Popick claims Trump’s campaign didn’t follow through on its promises of compensation.

Popick asked the Trump campaign for $2,500 for the Pensacola performance but agreed to a table to pre-sell CDs instead, The Washington Post quoted Popick as saying. That table wasn’t provided and neither was payment for the show, the paper reported.

Another planned appearance by the USA Freedom Kids was set in Des Moines, Iowa, in January, but was canceled at the last minute – after Popick paid for travel. Again Popick claims no form of compensation was provided by the Trump campaign.

Popick contends the Trump campaign breached a verbal contract by failing to allow CD sales at one rally and then canceling the Iowa appearance, CNN reported. The agreements between the campaign and Popick were never written down, the network reported.

Popick hasn’t said how much the lawsuit will seek in damages, nor has he said how soon it might be filed. He did, however, tell CNN it won’t be a “billion-dollar lawsuit.” His intent is to press an issue of “morality.”

The Trump campaign has not issued a statement in regard to Popick’s claims. Patch's request for comment from the campaign was not immediately answered. Patch also reached out to Popick but has yet to hear back.
