Venice Beach Fires Set Intentionally, Suspects Sought: Police
One suspect was questioned and released in Sunday night's Venice beach fires investigation, police said. Leads are sought in the case.
VENICE, FL — Investigators are seeking suspects in Sunday night’s Venice beach fires, authorities said.
The fires were set intentionally around 6:30 p.m. to various areas of vegetation at or near the beach parks from Venice Beach to Caspersen and Lake Venice Golf Club, the Venice Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
All fires were out or under control by 8:15 p.m., police said.

Venice Fire Rescue, Nokomis Fire Rescue, Sarasota County Fire Department and Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office assisted with controlling the fires.
One person was questioned about the fires and released, police said. No arrests have been made.

Other leads are being followed and the agency has received several tips.
