Veterans Day 2022: What’s Open, Closed In Sarasota County
Check out what's open and closed on the Veterans Day holiday in Sarasota County.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — To honor Friday, Nov. 11, as Veterans Day, various Sarasota County government offices will be closed, programs rescheduled and services paused, including the following:
- All Sarasota County government offices are closed Friday.
- Sarasota County Schools will be closed Friday.
- The Florida Department of Health will be closed Friday.
- County parks and beaches will be open Friday.
- Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road will be closed.
- The Central County Landfill Administration Office will be closed.
- The Re-Uz-It Shop located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road will be closed.
- Transit services, including bus, paratransit, the Siesta Key Breeze, and Mobility on Demand, will operate usual schedules on Friday. Transit offices and customer service windows will be closed.
- Sarasota County Emergency Rental Assistance Program Call Center will be closed.
- The SBA Business Recovery Center at the Venice Community Center at 326 Nokomis Ave. is closed through Sunday and is expected to reopen Monday at 9 a.m.
- Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected as regularly scheduled for residential customers in unincorporated Sarasota County.
- The Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road and the Citizens' Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All hand unloads must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing.
- The Chemical Collection Center at 250 S. Jackson Road remains closed due to Hurricane Ian.
- Hurricane Ian debris collection will continue, and public debris drop-off sites at Rothenbach Park, 8650 Bee Ridge Rd, Sarasota, and the Jackson Transfer Station, 250 S. Jackson Rd., Venice.
- The city of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Friday.
- Residential curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection and commercial garbage pickup schedules will be unaffected in the city of Sarasota. Storm debris collection operations will continue Friday.
- Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Lido Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
- Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex will be open from 6 to 10 a.m.
- The box office at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall will open at 10 a.m.
