Video Shows Auto Burglar in Action

Police need help identifying the man shown breaking into cars in a parking lot.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies are hoping someone recognizes the man it says broke into a parking garage and attempted to break into several vehicles before finding an unlocked target.

The incident caught on film took place on Sept. 6 in the early morning hours. The man tried to gain entry into the Siesta Gulf View Condominiums, but wasn’t successful. He was, however, successful at gaining access to the parking garage. Once inside, he was recorded trying the handles on several cars before finding an unlocked Toyota. He ransacked that car, a sheriff’s office media release said, and took about $10 in loose change.

Police are looking for a man in his 30s with close cropped, light brown hair. He has tattoos on both arms.
