More than 30 volunteers, including leaders from community organizations, local governments and the school district, participated in a local celebration of the 22nd annual National African American Read-In.
As part of Black History Month, schools, churches, libraries, bookstores and professional organizations across the U.S. are participating in the National African American Read-In to celebrate literacy and the artistic achievements, culture and history of African Americans.
The event took place at Alta Vista Elementary School.
