Washington Post Reporter to Preview 2012 Election

Political correspondent Karen Tumulty will be at Selby Auditorium on Jan. 26.

Karen Tumulty, a national political reporter for the Washington Post, is guest speaker Jan. 26, at 3:15 p.m., at Selby Auditorium, where she will discuss the "2012 Election: Where Things Stand."

Tumulty is the first of three scheduled speakers in the James and Kathleen Wood Lecture series, sponsored by George and Susan Evans.

Tumulty is a veteran political journalist who joined the Post in 2010, after writing about Congress and national politics for Time magazine from October 1994 to April 2010. Prior to working for Time, she was a reporter with the Los Angeles Times. She holds an MBA from Harvard and has served as a television news analyst for the public affairs program "Washington Week" on PBS.

Her visit is part of the James and Kathleen Wood Lecture series, sponsored by the Evans family with the goal of promoting an informed political dialog. The Lifelong Learning Academy and USF Sarasota-Manatee partnered to host the event.
