Outbursts in court are generally frowned upon, but contempt doesn’t seem to be an issue when even the judge can’t contain himself from laughing out loud.
That was the case Thursday when Delores Sheinis, 80, appeared in a Broward County court Thursday to answer criminal charges. Though those charges were addressed by Judge John Hurley, it was Delores who stole the show, leaving everyone in the room laughing thanks to her quick-witted humor and punchy one-liners.

She managed to work the room so well that not even fellow inmates or her defense attorney could contain their chuckles.
“You brighten my day ma’am,” Hurley told the woman during her 3-minute appearance.

“That’s what the last guy said, and then he sued me,” Sheinis quickly replied.
Sheinis’ comedy routine kicked off when she learned her only punishment for resisting arrest and violating a protective order from her ex-husband of 30-some years would be wearing a GPS ankle bracelet, the New York Daily News reported.
When Hurley advised her to stay far away from her ex, she swore “to God on all that’s holy, on a stack of Bibles” to never do so.
Satisfied, Hurley asked her how he did as a judge during the hearing.
“Not bad,” Sheinis wryly replied, “but you could do better.”
‘Ma’am, have you ever thought of doing a stand-up routine,” Hurley inquired.
“If you pay me good money, sweetheart, I’ll be there,” she replied.
