Watch: Hillary Clinton, Al Gore in Miami, Florida

Former Vice President Al Gore joined Hillary Clinton in Miami to talk about climate change.

MIAMI, FL — Energized by recent upticks in national polling, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton brought her campaign to Florida in a big way Tuesday. Clinton appeared in Miami with former Vice President Al Gore while her husband, former President Bill Clinton, headed up three voter registration events across the state.

Clinton has pulled out ahead of Republican challenger Donald Trump in national polls over the past few weeks. With two presidential debates under her belt, the Democrat was up by 6.5 percentage points Tuesday, according to the RealClear Politics national average. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Monday gave Clinton a 14 percent lead over Trump.

Scandals have been flying fast and furious as the Nov. 8 election draws near. Trump has taken a beating the polls following the release of a video that shows him making lewd comments about women. Clinton has also faced controversy following a release of what is purported to be excerpts from her Wall Street speeches. One email related to the Wikileaks release reportedly noted Clinton saying, “you need to have a private and public position on policy.”

Gore is expected to “discuss the urgent threat posed by climate change,” according to Clinton’s campaign. He and Hillary Clinton also plan to encourage Florida residents to register to vote. The state’s voter registration deadline was moved to Oct. 12 following a federal judge’s Monday ruling. That deadline could change again to Oct. 18 if a Wednesday hearing on a lawsuit filed by the Florida Democratic Party is successful.

As Hillary Clinton and Al Gore make their Miami appearance, President Bill Clinton intends to travel the state urging people to register. He’s set to make stops in Belle Glade, Fort Myers and at the Safety Harbor Community Center. The Safety Harbor voter registration event begins at 6:45 p.m.
