SOUTHWEST FLORIDA — Wawa opened two new stores Thursday in Southwest Florida, celebrating with back-to-back ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each location.

The new stores are at 1055 Sun Market Place, North Port, and 14560 Chancellor Blvd., Port Charlotte.

Free coffee will be available to the community at both stores through Sept. 24, according to a news release from the company.

The first 100 customers through the door at each store on Thursday will also receive a limited-edition “Wawa Coffee, Hoagies & Kindness” t-shirts, while supplies last.

“At Wawa, our core purpose is fulfilling lives every day, and since our first store opened, we’ve believed that we all have a role in making this world a better place,” Chris Gheysens, Wawa’s CEO, said. “Our associates deliver experiences and often create emotional connections with customers that go beyond what traditionally happens in a retail environment, and we look forward to welcoming old friends and making new ones in this wonderful community!”

Christina Hock is the general manager of the new North Port Wawa store, while Roxanne Dowell will serve as general manager of the Port Charlotte location. Each will lead a team of about 50 employees.

The stores are fully equipped with a built-to-order, fresh food kitchen featuring its signature hoagies and other items, including Wawa coffee and specialty beverages, the Sizzliä breakfast sandwich, and baked goods. The stores also offer packaged goods and fuel services.

Wawa food and drinks can be accessed through mobile ordering, curbside pickup, delivery options and catering.

Wawa plans to open up to 76 new stores throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida — including the Panhandle region — in 2023. The new Southwest Florida stores are the 44th and 45th stores to open this year.

The chain currently operates in six states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C.
