SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Memorial Day is just around the corner in the Sarasota area. While many will mark the day of remembrance by spending the day with family and friends, it’s important to note which businesses will be open if you head out that day to shop or grab a bite to eat.

While the true meaning of the day is to remember, many also view it as the unofficial start of summer and spend the day gathered with friends and family.

Many local facilities and government offices will close on Memorial Day in remembrance of the men and women who served and gave their lives for the United States.
