What's Open, What's Closed On Labor Day?
Here's a list of what will be open and what will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL ā While you enjoy a labor-free Labor Day ā with the exception of maybe tossing a couple of steaks on the grill ā hereās a list of what will be open and what will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3.
Retail Stores
Never fear. Youāll be able to run to Publix, Walmart, Target, Fresh Market or Sprouts for that forgotten bottle of mustard on Labor Day. Most national retail chains will be open on Labor Day although hours may vary.
Sarasota County Government
Most Sarasota County government offices, including the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day.

- All Sarasota County libraries and recreation centers will be closed Sept. 3, and Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) will not operate that day.
- However, the Siesta Key Breeze will be operating from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 3.
- There will be no solid waste pickups Sept. 3, and collection service will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
- The Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis, as well as the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota and the Citizens Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be closed Sept. 3.

City of Sarasota
City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste pickups normally scheduled for Mondays or Tuesdays will be delayed one day during the holiday week. Thursday and Friday collection days will remain the same.
Hours of operation at recreation and cultural arts facilities will vary: *
* Bobby Jones Golf Club, 1000 Circus Blvd., will be open regular hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
* Childrenās Fountain at Bayfront Park, Ringling Boulevard and Bayfront Drive, will begin winter hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Lido Pool, 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be closed.
* Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St., will be open limited hours: 6 to 10 a.m.
* Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail - The Box Office will be closed.
The regular City Commission meeting will be held the following day on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, 1565 First St.

City of Venice
Venice City Hall at 401 W. Venice Ave. will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday.
All trash materials ā this includes garbage, yard waste and recyclables -- will be collected on residentsā next regular pickup day (not the next day).
In the event of utilities service emergencies like a water line break, residents can call 941-486-2770. This line is designated for emergencies only.
