Woman Charged With DUI Manslaughter In I-75 Wrong-Way Crash: FHP
Olivia Hernandez, 37, of Punta Gorda was driving the wrong way on I-75 in Venice in the Dec. 14 crash that killed a 21-year-old, FHP said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL ā A 37-year-old Punta Gorda woman has been charged with DUI manslaughter in a Dec. 14 wrong-way crash on I-75 in Venice that left a 21-year-old dead, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
Troopers say Olivia Hernandez was driving her SUV south in the northbound lanes of I-75 near Jacaranda Boulevard and Laurel Road around 10:40 p.m. when she hit another car.
The driver of the other car, a 21-year-old man from Lauderdale Lakes, was killed in the crash, which seriously injured his passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Pembroke Pines, FHP said.

A toxicology examination found that Hernandezās blood alcohol concentration level to be a .133 that night.

In addition to DUI manslaughter, Hernandez also faces charges of DUI serious bodily injury and DUI property damage. She was booked into Sarasota County Jail Thursday.
