Woman Fatally Shot Outside Sarasota Home: Sheriff’s Office

SARASOTA, FL — The suspect in a fatal shooting of a woman outside a Sarasota home has been arrested, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Brittney Dixon, 36, was shot and killed Friday afternoon by 28-year-old Terrell Battie after an argument outside the home on North Lockwood Meadows Boulevard.

Deputies who responded to the home just after 4 p.m. found Dixon unresponsive with a gunshot wound, SCSO said.

She was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she later died from her injuries

Battie was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder without premeditation, the sheriff’s office said.
