Bali Bay Trading Co. Headed For Jewelry TV

A new line of jewelry that is imported directly to a Seminole Heights shop, Bali Bay Trading Co., will make a television debut this Tuesday.

The company's warehouse location on Florida Avenue is stocked full of interesting gems, necklaces, bracelets, purses, belts and ear rings, but it was their "kaleidoscope" collection that recently caught the eye of Jewelry Television executives at a gem and rock show in Tucson, AZ.

"Every year we go to the Tucson Gem Show because it's one of the largest rock and gem shows in the United States," Bali Bay Trading Co. owner Carol Pavesi said. "Jewelry Television executives saw us there and asked if we would be interested in having our line shown on television. They renamed the line Ala Manda Mode Accessories after a tropical flower and we go this Tuesday to show the line."

The television segment will be hosted by Jewelry Television personality Mandy Steinbacher and co-hosted by Bali Bay employee and Seminole Heights resident Deidre Gray. This opportunity won't be Gray's first television experience, having modeled for the Home Shopping Network previously, but she is looking forward to a new challenge.

"I did a lot of overnights on HSN," Gray said. "I'm really looking forward to this because it's a bigger undertaking than we had realized. We had to write out all the cards with the information and we've been involved with the Jewelry TV marketing department, so it's been a real experience."

Pavesi is partnered by Zac Sperry, a long time importer of everything from furniture to jewels. Sperry lives in Indonesia where the stones come from 8 months out of the year, importing the jewelry to Pavesi who then wholesales it to other retailers and catalogues or puts it on display in her Florida Avenue warehouse.

For Pavesi, the opportunity to feature the jewelry on a national scale through a television network is a chance to take Bali Bay to the next level.

"I'm curious to see how it goes," Pavesi said. "We sell a lot of it here and we're happy with the way it's going. Zac has always been an importer of something whether it was furniture or something else and he's been very successful and I have fun with the marketing of it, but this something new for sure."
