Body Found in Hillsborough River

The Tampa Police Department is investigating the death of a man found in the Hillsborough River Monday.

A call to the agency came in around 10:40 a.m., prompting divers to search the area around the Sulphur Springs tower.

The body was recovered Monday and was tentatively identified as Bruce Rivera, 19, who had been missing since Sunday. The Hillsborough Community College student’s disappearance sparked a search as it was out of character for the man to not check in at home.

The cause of death is pending a medical examiner’s investigation.
