Tampa Fire Rescue hosts this barbecue fund-raiser to help firefighter and paramedic Justin Battles and his family with expenses connected to their 19-year-old son's debilitating accident at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.
Nick Battles was seriously injured on Nov. 9 during a combat simulation in boot camp, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
Although his medical expenses are paid by the U.S. Marine Corps, the Battles family has sustained significant costs for travel and boarding in Charleston, where Nick Battles is undergoing treatment at the Medical University of South Carolina.
