Man Charged With Arson Following Ybor City Fire
Tampa Fire Rescue arrived to put out the fire and found Carroll L. DeMoss, 46, hiding in the building.

YBOR CITY, FL – Tampa Police have charged a man with second-degree arson and burglary in connection with a break-in at the former Ybor Resort & Spa.
According to police, two officers were on patrol around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, when they noticed smoke coming from the vacant building at 1512 E. 8th Ave., which once housed the spa.
Tampa Fire Rescue arrived to put out the fire and found Carroll L. DeMoss, 46, hiding in the building. After being interviewed, DeMoss was charged with breaking into the building and intentionally setting the fire, causing about $3,000 in damage.

A fire at the same building in March also was ruled arson. It caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. Police are investigating whether the two fires are related.
