Some Starbucks Closed Due to 'Maintenance Issue'

A "maintenance issue" forced several Starbucks Coffee stores around the country, including here in the Tampa Bay area, to be temporarily closed Wednesday, forcing many residents to go without their morning coffee.

Preventative maintenance on a water filtration system on "a small percentage" of Starbucks stores was to blame for the closures, a company spokesperson told Patch. The maintenance was intended to be completed overnight, the spokesperson said, but "in some cases that did not happen."

In Bradenton, multiple Starbucks locations were closed Wednesday morning. Later in the day, a store at 5783 Manatee Ave. W. re-opened, but barristas there told customers they couldn't make any drinks that required water because they didn't have any water pressure. That left customers with the choice of iced coffee, frappuccino and iced teas.

Multiple media sources reported closures around the country, including elsewhere in Florida and in Ohio.

Nearly all the Starbucks locations in the Naples area were closed Wednesday morning, the Naples Daily News reported. Stores in Jacksonville were also closed, News4Jax.com reports. The Dayton Daily News reported closures in Dayton, OH, and Cincinnati-area stores were also affected, according to kypost.com. 

All the stores were expected to re-open by Wednesday afternoon, according to the company.
