Tampa Police Seek Driver Who Hit Elderly Man On Hillsborough
Tampa Police detectives have identified a man they believe drove the car that struck and killed an 81-year-old pedestrian.
TAMPA, FL – Tampa Police detectives have identified a man they believe drove the car that struck and killed an 81-year-old pedestrian in the 4000 block of Hillsborough Avenue east of Lois Avenue in Tampa Saturday, March 17.
Officers were called to the accident scene at 12:12 a.m. and found Felix De la Uz dead.
Witnesses told police that a car was heading west on Hillsborough Avenue when it suddenly left the road and hit a sign and electrical box where De la Uz was waiting to cross the road with his wife, Narda Vazquez Ruiz, 69. Witnesses say De la Uz pushed his wife out of the way before he was struck by the white Honda Civic.

The Civic stopped about 500 feet away and the driver and a passenger got out and fled on foot.
Police believe the driver of the car was Tracy Evereth Wood, who is known to reside in the Seffner and Town N’ Country areas. He is wanted for a hit and run involving a death.

His passenger, Miriam Marti-Benning, 43, is a person of interest.
Detectives are asking anyone who may know the whereabouts of Wood or Marti-Benning to contact Tampa Police at (813) 231-6130.
