Tampa Police Seek Would-Be Robber Who Pistol-Whipped Victim
Tampa Police are trying to identify an armed robber who pistol-whipped a Tampa resident.
TAMPA, FL -- Tampa Police are trying to identify an armed robber who pistol-whipped a Tampa resident.
According to police, the robber followed Gilberto Lopez Pino, 50, home from the 7-Eleven at 3444 W. Columbus Drive around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. As Pino pulled up to his house at 707 W. Harlan St. and got out of his car, the robber came up behind him, produced a firearm and demanded Pino's wallet. A struggle ensued. The robber pushed Pino to the ground and pistol-whipped him.
Pino yelled for help and said there were surveillance cameras in the area, causing the robber to take off east toward N. Boulevard where he'd left his car parked.

No property was taken. Pino received injuries to the face and arms.
The robber is black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 170 to 180 pounds. He was driving a black four-door Nissan, possibly an Altima, with chrome handles and trim.
