Winn-Dixie Customers Donate Nearly $8,684 to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee

Winn-Dixie customers opened up their check books and donated $8,683.74 to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, which provides nutrition to senior citizens and families in need, through its home-delivered meal program and operation of The Food Bank of Manatee. The contribution was made possible as part of a six-week community donation program across the grocer’s Southwest Florida area stores. On June 18, Winn-Dixie proudly presented the oversized check to representatives from Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee to support the organization’s Food Bank.

The Winn-Dixie community donation program ran from Feb. 20 to April 2 and invited customers to easily donate to the cause at store registers. The donation was part of a record $153,661.68 donation to 75 not-for-profit organizations that enhance the lives of children, improve health, education and nourish the hungry in their communities across Winn-Dixie’s operating area.
