Instead of paying monthly for your trash pickup, City of Tampa residents could soon have the cost tacked onto your annual tax bills, TBO.com reports.

City officials are proposing the move in an effort to streamline the biling process and bring in more money at the start of the fiscal year.

The changes, which still require council approval and two public hearings, would affect customers within city limits as they existed in 1983 — which would not include New Tampa residents.

Residents of Hillsborough County have paid annually for their trash pickup for years, according to the TBO.com report.

Both the city and the county are also considering a switch to in an effort to cut costs.
