• Spread the Word: Peanut Butter Challenge kicks off September 28 - UF/IFAS Extension Jackson County (ufl.edu) — Sneads residents can support local families facing food insecurity by dropping unopened peanut butter jars at McDaniel's Piggly Wiggly on US 90 as part of Jackson County's Peanut Butter Challenge starting September 28. Donations collected through October 31 will go to Backpacks for Kids – Jackson County and Innovative Charities of Northwest Florida, building on thousands of jars given in previous years.
• Sneads' Bill Thomas talks retirement after 2026 season (mypanhandle.com) — Sneads residents may soon see a major change on the sidelines, as longtime Sneads High School head football coach Bill Thomas says he's likely to retire after the 2026 season. After 13 years leading the Pirates, including a perfect 10-0 regular season in 2022, he's weighing family and business commitments while hoping the team shows strong progress this fall.
• Florida State Hospital patient captured, taken into custody from hotel in 'Quincy/Shiloh community' (wctv.tv) — Law enforcement say an escaped Florida State Hospital patient has been safely captured in the Quincy/Shiloh area after a search that included a reported sighting in Sneads around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies and K-9 teams tracked the 25-year-old from Chattahoochee through nearby communities before returning him to the hospital without incident.
