• Florida laws clear path for 38-story tower on site of South Beach's historic Savoy Hotel (therealdeal.com) — A controversial state-backed redevelopment could replace much of South Beach's historic Savoy Hotel site with a 38‑story tower including condos, hotel rooms, and workforce apartments on Ocean Drive. Miami Beach officials and preservationists say new state resiliency and housing laws leave them little power to stop demolition, raising wider concerns about the future of South of Fifth's Art Deco character and flood‑zone protections.
