1 Dead, 1 Arrested In Tampa Double Shooting
Hillsborough County deputies say the shooting occurred when an argument broke out during a marijuana sale.

TAMPA, FL — A 24-year-old Tampa man faces a number of criminal charges after a Wednesday shooting left one person dead and another injured.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Alton Demetrius Smith went to 5902 Trout River Drive, No. 101, Wednesday afternoon “with the intent to purchase 28 grams of marijuana for the price of $210.”
During the sale, a dispute broke out between Zayroone Toussiant, 25, and Smith, an email from the sheriff’s office said. While the dispute was going on, Christopher Riley, 21, who lives at the Trout River Drive address, was in a back bedroom.

Riley overheard the two arguing, armed himself and came out of the room, the email said. By the time he did, the dispute between Toussaint and Smith became physical.
Riley, the email said, watched as Smith shot Toussaint, who died from his injuries. Riley then fired his own gun at Smith, and the two exchanged shots, the email said.

Smith ran out of the apartment, but Riley followed and wrestling match for Smith’s gun occurred, the email said. A witness told deputies, Smith shot Riley and then took off in his vehicle.
Riley was shot in the forehead, but is expected to survive, deputies noted.
Deputies say Smith admitted after arrest to going to the apartment, armed with a handgun, to purchase marijuana.
Smith, a convicted felon, has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail without bond. Smith was apparently not shot during the incident.
