Floyd’s 99 Barbershop of South Tampa today announced plans for their grand opening event to be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The day-long celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an in-shop scavenger hunt, prizes, and more. The shop, located at 1155 S. Dale Mabry Highway, Unit 6, in South Tampa, is owned and operated by franchisee Stephanie Noyes, a lifelong member of the Tampa Bay community. “Floyd’s is all about giving our customers an amplified experience, and we can’t wait to create that excitement at our grand opening event,” said Stephanie, noting that this is her third Floyd’s location, with shops already open in Clearwater and St. Pete. “This is an opportunity for the community to celebrate with us, meet the stylists, and even get a haircut,” she said. “Floyd’s is for everyone – men, women, and kids – and we’ll be accepting walk-in appointments all day.” The South Tampa location is offering 50% off haircuts for the first 30 days, beginning on Friday. A 19-year-old Tampa man is dead and a 24-year-old critically injured following a Sunday night shooting in Tampa.The incident unfolded around 8:14 p.m. as two officers were on a bicycle stop at 10th Street North and 24th Avenue East. They heard a series of shots just east of their location. The officers headed in the direction of the shots and found Quinton Girven, 19, with a gunshot, wrote Laura McElroy, police spokeswoman in an email to media.Girven was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died.Police later learned that within minutes of the shooting, a second person, Fady Suleiman, 24, had been dropped off at another nearby hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. Suleiman is in critical condition.Police say the shootings are related and are asking any witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation. McElroy said investigators believe the shooter was riding in a dark green Nissan Maxima. Anyone with information about the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
