1 Dead, Firefighter Injured After Fire At Tampa Storage Facility: Reports

The blaze was first reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday at a storage facility on North 56th Street.

TAMPA, FL — One person is dead after a fire broke out at a storage facility in Tampa on Friday night, according to reports citing authorities.

The blaze was first reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. at Public Storage, located at 6940 N. 56th St., Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said in statements obtained by WFLA and WTSP.

Crews encountered heavy flames at the facility and contained the fire in about two hours, reports said.

According to WTSP, crews found the victim dead inside a storage unit. His identity has not been released.

A firefighter was also injured in the blaze and received treatment at the scene, reports said.
