1 Shot During Home Invasion Robbery

Five children were sleeping in the home at the time.

The Tampa Police Department is investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred in the 4400 block of N. 36th St. early Friday morning.

According to police, two men approached a resident outside the home around 4 a.m. and forced him inside. Once inside, the men demanded property from the four adults in the home and shot one of the victims in the upper body. Five small children were sleeping inside at the time and were uninjured, police wrote in an email to media.

The other adults were uninjured. The victim who was shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspects, who were armed with guns and had dark bandanas over their faces, fled the scene.
