TAMPA, FL — A teenager has arrested after being accused of intentionally hitting someone with a car following an argument.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, at 11:10 p.m. March 11, the 17-year-old got into a fight with a passenger in his car while stopped at the intersection of 15th Street North and 151st Avenue East in Tampa.

While the car was still stopped, the passenger got out and started walking on 151st Avenue East.

Witnesses told detectives they heard the driver rev the car's engine and then saw him intentionally drive toward the passenger, hitting him.

The passenger remains in critical condition at a hospital.

"This young suspect used his vehicle as a weapon," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "The lives of many changed dramatically and in just a few seconds as a result of his unjustifiable actions. The suspect will be held accountable for the damages he caused to the lives of others."

The teen has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
