18 Tombs, Statues At Historic Tampa Cemetery Damaged By Vandals

Tampa Police are asking for help in solving a case of cemetery vandalism that resulted in damage to tombs at a historic Tampa cemetery.

TAMPA, FL -- Tampa Police are asking for help in solving a case of cemetery vandalism that resulted in damage to a number of tombs at a historic Tampa cemetery.

Someone entered the Centro Espaol de Tampa cemetery at 2502 E. 21st Ave. sometime within the last two or three days and used a heavy object – possibly a sledge hammer -- to break 18 concrete and marble tombs and statues.

The cemetery, which was established in 1904, has approximately 1,600 graves.
