2 Tampa Police Officers Injured When Bottles Thrown
Two Tampa Police officers were injured after bottles were thrown at them as they were trying to control a crowd blocking an intersection.

TAMPA, FL — Two Tampa Police officers received minor injuries Saturday morning after bottles were thrown at them as they were attempting to control a crowd of people blocking an intersection.
At 1:14 a.m., officers reported to 15th Street North and 26th Avenue for a report of shots fired and a possible gunshot victim.
When they arrived, they found a large group of people completely blocking the intersection. When officers attempted to find a gunshot victim, police said the crowd became aggressive.

While officers were taking one person into custody, the crowd surrounded them and began throwing alcoholic beverages and glass bottles. Several people jumped on one of the officer's cruisers causing minor damage.
One officer was struck on the left side of the head and sustained swelling and a small laceration. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. Another officer was struck on the back of the head and back with glass bottles.
