28-Year-Old Tampa Man Accused Of Shooting 3 People From Car

A 28-year-old man accused of shooting three people outsident a Tampa lounge Sunday morning has been arrested by detectives.

TAMPA, FL — A 28-year-old man accused of shooting three people outsident a Tampa lounge Sunday morning has been arrested by Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives.

Just after 1 a.m. on April 4, detectives said Bervis Sanders, got into an argument with one of the victims inside Taiga, 10315 Causeway Blvd. Sanders told the victim to meet him outside in the parking lot.

Detectives said Sanders walked east toward a gas station parking lot with the victim following. The victim stopped short of the gas station parking lot to meet with friends in between the lounge and gas station.

Detectives said Sanders got into his red 2017 Hyundai Elantra and began driving toward the group of friends. At 1:21 a.m., Sanders leaned over from the driver's side of his car, extended his arm outside the passenger's side window and began shooting at the group of friends. Three people were wounded and taken to the hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds.

After being identified on a surveillance video by his parole supervisor, Sanders was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery, discharge of a gun from a vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. He remains in jail without bond.

"This suspect is a dangerous individual, as he was already on parole for an armed robbery he had committed in another state," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This man is no stranger to jail time, and that's where he'll remain for now after he again tried to destroy lives here in Hillsborough County."
