$3,000 Reward Offered in Dog Shooting Case

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay wants to help catch the culprit.

The story of a mixed breed dog left for dead after being tied to railroad tracks and shot twice has tugged at the heartstrings of people all over Tampa Bay.

Named Cabela by the Tampa Police officers who rescued her Wednesday evening, the dog is recovering from two bullet wounds and surgery to help her mend.

Those responsible for Cabela’s conditions, however, remain on the lam.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay wants to change that. The organization has stepped forward to offer a $3,000 reward that leads to the identification and arrest of the person or people responsible.

Cabela was found about 100 feet north of Eskimo Drive Wednesday night after three separate calls came into the police department about shots fired around 5:30 p.m.

Anyone with information about who shot Cabela in the neck and above the right shoulder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477).
