Adventure Island Parking Lot Site Of New COVID-19 Testing Site

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County is opening a fourth location for residents to receive free COVID-19 testing.

Starting Monday, Jan. 24, the parking lot of Adventure Island, 10001 N McKinley Drive, Tampa, will open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for residents who want to receive free COVID-19 testing.

This is a drive-thru site, and no appointments are needed.

To receive a COVID-19 test at Adventure Island, residents will enter the park's parking lot off East Bougainvillea Avenue. Vehicles heading north on McKinley Drive will make a right onto East Bougainvillea Avenue and then take the first right to enter the testing site. Vehicles heading south on McKinley Drive will make a left onto East Bougainvillea Avenue and then take the first right to enter the testing site. There will be street signage directing visitors to the entrance.

Adventure Island is temporarily closed for the season.

This is the fourth site where residents can receive COVID-19 testing. All four sites offer free COVID-19 tests, including the rapid antigen test, which provides a result in about three hours, and the PCR test, which provides results in about 48 hours.

The other three Hillsborough County COVID-19 testing sites are:

The Hillsborough Community College Brandon campus, 10451 Nancy Watkins Drive, Tampa, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. This is a drive-thru site. The entrance to the Hillsborough Community College Brandon campus COVID-19 testing site is off East Columbus Drive.

Progress Village Park, 8701 Progress Blvd., Tampa, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a walk-up COVID-19 testing site.

West Tampa Community Resource Center, 2103 N Rome Ave., Tampa, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It is a walk-up site that offers free COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, Pfizer pediatric vaccines, booster shots for those who are eligible and monoclonal antibody therapy treatment.

Residents wanting monoclonal antibody therapy treatment must make an appointment. Appointments can be made at patientportalfl.com.

The West Tampa Community Resource Center site also offers the COVID-19 Pfizer pediatric vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 who are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian to verbally confirm the child's age.

For all services, proof of medical insurance is recommended and should be presented at the time of the visit. People without medical insurance will still be tested, vaccinated or receive monoclonal antibody therapy treatment for free.

The Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management asks the public not to arrive at the county COVID-19 testing sites before the sites open at 9 a.m. Staff at each county site will open the entrance gate at 9 a.m. and begin to see people at that time.

There are other locations throughout the county, including local pharmacies, that are offering COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.
