Japanese Lifestyle Retailer Expands Into Tampa Bay Area: Report

A Japanese retailer known for Asian snacks, toys and home goods, plans to open its largest-ever store in Tampa, a report said.

TAMPA, FL — A Japanese lifestyle megastore is expanding into the Tampa Bay area.

Ebisu Life Store will open its largest-ever store at 6234 Commerce Drive in the Tampa Palm shopping center, the Business Observer reported.

The retailer’s planned 21,500-square-foot space far eclipses its current Orlando location, which has nearly 15,000 square feet, the report said.

Permits haven’t been filed for the new store yet and no projected opening date has been released.

Japanese variety bargain store brand Daiso also recently made moves into Florida with locations opening last year in Tampa, Clearwater and Miami Gardens.

Founded in Osaka in 2015 by Fukuwa Co., Ltd., the Ebisu chain brings high-quality Asian goods to the U.S., including toys, snacks, beauty and home goods, according to its website. It also operates as a fashion retail brand.

The brand has 25 stores across the U.S., including locations in California,Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Texas, according to Ebisu’s website. There are also 16 stories listed as coming soon.

Current Florida stores are located in Jacksonville and Orlando. In addition to the new Tampa store, an Ebisu is also planned in Miami.
