Popular St. Pete Pizzeria Opening Tampa Location

A popular St. Pete restaurant known for its crispy pizza and Philly cheesesteaks is opening a new Tampa location.

TAMPA, FL — A popular St. Petersburg pizzeria that’s also known for its Philly cheesteaks and other sandwiches is opening a restaurant on the other side of the bay.

The Violet Stone will open at 3634 W. Kennedy Blvd., which was formerly home to Renzo’s, owner Daniel Fekete said in a video posted to social media. (Watch his full video below.)

“We’re just gonna do what we do; that’s it, right?” he said. “We do our style of food. We’re not switching that. We’re just gonna do it in Tampa, that’s all.”

While excited about the new Tampa location, the investor-free project is “a big risk,” Fekete said, noting, “We could have rested on our laurels a little bit.”

The Violet Stone, known for its crispy Phialdelphia-style pizzas, got its start as a food truck in the St. Petersburg area in 2022.

The restaurant then set up shop in a small storefront on 9th Avenue N. in the Historic Kenwood area before relocating to a larger space at 2609 Dr. MLK Jr. Street N. last year.

Construction will start on the new Tampa restaurant, not far from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers home field, Raymond James Stadium, this July, Fekete said.

He promised it would be open in time for football season, which kicks off in September.
