1. Tampa Diner Closing Soon To Reopen As New Concept (patch.com) — South Tampa diners will soon see a familiar spot on South Howard Avenue transformed, as Daily Eats temporarily closes June 15 for a full refresh before reopening as Meeting House. Ciccio Restaurant Group promises to keep the longtime team together, retain some favorite dishes, and introduce a new neighborhood-focused concept built around lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
2. Tornado Briefly Touches Down In Hillsborough County: National Weather Service (patch.com) — Residents around Town ‘N’ Country and Old Tampa Bay experienced a brief EF-0 tornado Sunday evening as a waterspout came ashore near Tampa International Airport, according to the National Weather Service. The twister, with peak winds of 79 mph, damaged a pool enclosure, downed a large tree, and caused minor structural damage along its short path through the Villages of Bayport community.
3. Tampa's luxury home prices saw highest increase in U.S.: Redfin (wfla.com) — Tampa’s luxury housing market just posted the biggest price jump in the country, with high-end home prices up 17.1% and going under contract in about 20 days. Redfin’s new data shows Tampa ranking near the top nationally for pending and closed luxury sales, with the median luxury price now around $1.67 million.
4. Improvements for Howard Frankland Bridge to open on Wednesday (wfla.com) — Starting today, Howard Frankland Bridge’s new mixed-use trail opens to walkers, cyclists, and runners, with new express lanes expected to follow as weather allows. Tampa Bay commuters between Hillsborough and Pinellas could soon see shorter drive times, while residents gain nearly seven miles of waterfront path and overlooks accessible daily from sunrise to sunset.
5. South Tampa Workforce Housing Project Adds 408 Affordable Apartments (constructionowners.com) — A major 408-unit workforce housing complex is now under construction in South Tampa near MacDill Air Force Base, with every apartment designated as affordable workforce housing under Florida’s Live Local Act. Backed by $67 million in private financing, the Pointe Grand Interbay at Tampa project is only the second Live Local development underway in the city and is slated for completion in June 2027.
