• Tampa animal advocacy group concerned over future of Pet Resource Center amid Rays stadium approval (wfla.com) — Animal advocates in Tampa are pressing Hillsborough County leaders to keep their promise to upgrade or relocate the aging Pet Resource Center on Falkenberg Road, despite major funding committed to the new Rays stadium. With budget numbers tight and rumors swirling that shelter improvements may be sidelined, advocates plan to speak out at Thursday's county budget meeting.
• Rare plants, edibles and environmental conservation with KC Gonzalez (Gonza Gardens) (wmnf.org) — A Tampa-based gardener and educator has launched the Tampa Food Forest Initiative, a nonprofit teaching residents about food forests, sustainable gardening, and water conservation. In a recent Sustainable Living radio episode, KC Gonzalez shares how her Gonza Gardens yard became an edible forest, offers tips for starting your own, and highlights rare tropical edibles suited to central Florida backyards.
• Tampa 'super speeder' caught going 125 mph on Howard Frankland Bridge: FHP (wfla.com) — A Tampa man was arrested after Florida Highway Patrol clocked him driving 125 mph in a 65 mph zone on the Howard Frankland Bridge's express lanes. Troopers say the 63-year-old was charged under Florida's "super speeder" law, and records show he'd previously been arrested in connection with a dispute at his south Tampa guest house.
