Man Charged With Murder In Deadly Tampa Shooting, Police Say (patch.com) β Tampa police say a 36-year-old man has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in a September shooting on Nebraska Avenue near McEwen Avenue. Detectives identified him after a neighborhood canvass and community tips, and he later turned himself in at Orient Road Jail, which officials hope brings some accountability for the victim's family.

2. Motorcyclist Killed, Another Seriously Injured in I-75 Crash: FL Troopers (patch.com) β A deadly overnight crash on northbound I-75 in Hillsborough County left a 42-year-old Odessa motorcyclist dead and another rider seriously hurt, drawing major emergency response near Tampa. Troopers say two Harley-Davidsons collided and overturned, and a passing driver who stopped to help was then struck when another car hit the downed rider and crashed into her parked vehicle.

Tampa Police Host 32nd Annual Tampa Police Memorial Run (tampa.gov) β Tampa residents are invited downtown this Saturday, Oct. 10, for the 32nd Annual Tampa Police Memorial 5K and 1βmile walk honoring the city's 32 fallen officers. The event at Lykes Gaslight Park features a flyover, SWAT rappel demonstration, food, music, and medals, with online and dayβof registration plus packet pickup at the Tampa Police Museum and headquarters.

4. 'I don't, that's what I said': HCSO arrest man driving after license was revoked (wfla.com) β A weekend traffic stop at East 131st Avenue and Marathon Key Drive in Tampa led deputies to arrest a 31-year-old driver whose license has been revoked since 2018. Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office records show multiple prior license violations and an outstanding warrant, and the man now faces another charge for driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license.

5. Man sentenced to 55 years for 2023 fatal Tampa stabbing (wfla.com) β A man has been sentenced in Tampa to 55 years in prison for the 2023 stabbing death of a construction supervisor at the Easthaven development in Hillsborough County. Prosecutors say he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and related charges, while a co-defendant now faces a potential life sentence as jury selection gets underway.
