TAMPA, FL — A 10-time convicted felon has been arrested in connection with a fatal Tuesday night shooting in Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 12000 block of Taliaferro Avenue at 11:19 p.m.
When they arrived, they found the victim, Ronnie Sheppard, 29, suffering from upper-body trauma, the sheriff's office said. He was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives determined that an argument between Sheppard and the suspect, 26-year-old Nathan Campbell, escalated into the shooting, HCSO said.

He faces charges of second-degree murder involving the discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the sheriff's office.
"In less than 12 hours, a homicide suspect is off our streets," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "This violent 10-time convicted felon can no longer victimize our community."
