Another Cold Front on the Way to Tampa Bay?

Forecasters say slightly cooler temperatures could be on the way by week's end.

Tampa Bay area residents bracing for a return to near-90-degree days might get a break from the heat soon.

The National Weather Service in Ruskin reports the potential for a cold front moving into the area by Friday night. If it arrives, that cold front would move across the state Saturday and Saturday night, said meteorologist Tom Dougherty.

Residents shouldn’t pull out their sweaters just yet though. The forecast calls for a high in the upper 80s on Wednesday with mostly sunny conditions. Thursday and Friday are expected to bring highs near 90 with increasing rain chances.

Conditions are expected to change overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. On Saturday, forecasters say there’s a 30 percent chance for scattered showers and the high that day is expected to only reach the mid-80s or so. Sunday should bring similar conditions with rain chances moving out of the picture during the daytime hours.

As for Columbus Day Monday, forecasters expect a high around 86 with a low around 68.

“We’ll be slightly cooler on Monday and Tuesday,” Dougherty said. “Nice and cool in the morning.”
